Aloners has two main endings. Choices throughout the earlier chapters establish the protagonist’s personality and change how Trash responds, but do not determine whether you receive the Good or Bad Ending. The decisive choice occurs late in the story, when the protagonist and Trash are held captive at the base. Play normally up to that sequence, then follow the instructions under the ending you want. The 2018 Redux edition includes an additional chapter following the main story.
Good Ending – Escape Together
Start a new game and play through the story with Trash.
Choose any personality and relationship responses during the early chapters; they change dialogue but will not force the Bad Ending.
When the bandits capture you and Trash at the base, Save 1 before the decisive response.
When you have the opportunity to resist your captor or struggle free, take action rather than remain passive.
Continue through the escape sequence.
Read the Good Ending.
Bad Ending – Captivity
Load Save 1 at the late-game captivity scene.
When your captor threatens you and Trash, do not resist.
Choose the passive response rather than taking the action that can free you.
Continue to the Bad Ending.
Good Ending – Relationship Variations
Replay the story to see different versions of your relationship with Trash.
For a closer relationship, respond affectionately and accept opportunities to develop romantic intimacy.
For a less romantic relationship, prefer reserved or platonic responses.
At the base, resist your captor to obtain the Good Ending in either case.
These variations change scenes and dialogue; they are not separate numbered endings.
